About

Tinah and Wyatt Head
Tinah and Wyatt Head

The earliest known roots of the Wyatt Head family originated in Virginia, sometime before 1797, when his mother, Mary Head was born.  She apparently moved to Elbert County Georgia in the early 1800s and that is where Wyatt was born.  By 1870 Mary, Wyatt, and his wife Tinah and their children were all living in Morgan County Georgia.

The purpose of this site is to document some of what is known about the life of Mary, Wyatt, Tinah, and their descendants.  More complete and detailed information about Wyatt can be found in the book on the Head family written by Wayman Smith.

Much of the information on this site has been collected by Head Family members for the annual reunions, which started in 1977.  Judith Morgan, the granddaughter of Upshaw Head and the 2nd great-granddaughter of Wyatt Head, created family reunion booklets from information provided by family members starting in 1979 and for many years later.
